Sandhya Rao, MD

Chief Medical Officer, Senior Vice President

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts

Dr. Sandhya Rao is chief medical officer and senior vice president for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the largest private health plan in Massachusetts and one of the largest independent, not-for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the country.

Sandhya is responsible for the strategic direction and ongoing operation of our health and medical management and pharmacy divisions, focused on improving the quality, outcomes and affordability of health care provided to our members.

Sandhya joined Blue Cross in December 2020, and she provides extensive population health management experience leading to innovative delivery solutions and unique insights into what employers want in their health plans.

Previously, she served as vice president of clinical strategy at Haven, the health care organization formed by Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, and Berkshire Hathaway. Before joining Haven, Sandhya was senior medical director for population health management at Partners Healthcare. She also served as associate medical director of the Mass General Physicians Organization, and as a business analyst at McKinsey and Co. Her clinical experience includes practice as a primary care provider at Massachusetts General Hospital and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Sandhya earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in public health from Brown University and her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

 
 
 
 

Neel Shah, MD, MPP, FACOG,

Chief Medical Officer

Maven

Dr. Neel Shah, MD, MPP, FACOG, is Chief Medical Officer of Maven Clinic, the largest virtual clinic for women's and family health, and visiting scientist at Harvard Medical School. He is the co-founder of the March for Moms Association, a coalition of more than 20 leading organizations dedicated to increasing public and private investment in the wellbeing of mothers, and the founder of Costs of Care, an NGO that curates insights from clinicians and patients to help delivery systems provide better care. His work to build equitable, trustworthy systems of care is featured in the documentaries “Color of Care,” produced by Oprah Winfrey, and “Aftershock,” which is currently streaming on Hulu. Dr. Shah serves on the advisory board of the National Institutes of Health, Office of Women's Health Research.

 

ELIZABETH BAILEY

Co-founder & Managing Partner

Foreground Capital

Elizabeth Bailey has over 20 years of experience in venture capital and supporting early-stage healthcare companies. She is currently a Co-founder and Managing Partner at Foreground Capital, a venture capital firm investing in early-stage women's health start-ups. Elizabeth co-founded and led Foreground's precursor funds at RH Capital, where she and her team built one of the largest dedicated venture capital portfolios in women's health. At Foreground Capital, she continues to manage RH Capital funds and serves as a board director for Raydiant Oximetry and Testmate Health, and as a board observer for Bloom life, Cayaba, Mae and Twentyeight Health. 

Elizabeth was previously a Partner at Commons Capital, one of the first impact investment funds, where she managed the healthcare portfolio, including Claros Diagnostics (acquired by OPKO), CodeRyte (acquired by 3M), HistoRx (acquired by Genoptix), Medical Metrx Solutions (acquired by AIG) and Tela Doc (IPO: TDOC). 

She holds a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School and a BA from Brown University. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has been a strong advocate of the power of business to drive social change. In 2023, she was named a Trailblazing Leader in Women's Health, and in 2024 Elizabeth received the inaugural Fem Force Vanguard Award for her leadership in women's health.

Megan Greenfield

Partner, McKinsey & Affiliated Leader

McKinsey Health Institute

Megan Greenfield, PhD, is a partner in the McKinsey Boston office and is an Affiliated leader of McKinsey Health Institute (MHI). MHI a non-profit-generating entity dedicated to improving global health outcomes, adding life to years and years to lives. She is a global co-leader of the MHI and McKinsey’s women’s health work and has published several papers on women’s health including the recent article “The state of US women’s heart health: A path to improved health and financial outcomes” with the American Heart Association. She has led other large scale health equity efforts including a multiyear program to increase diversity in clinical trials.

Megan has spent 15 years in advising leadership teams of healthcare institutions, supporting providers, health services and technology organizations, and life science companies.  She focuses on focus on strategy and growth, including pricing, value-based care, and go-to-market strategies.

Megan received her PhD at Northwestern University and B.S. from Caltech in chemical and biological engineering. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Museum of Science in Boston and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.
